There are more then 100- type of fleas found in this world. And they have characteristic that they multiply very fast. Fleas can multiply them to hundred times just in one day. As these fleas can easily gain access to our houses through windows and open doors, it becomes extremely important for us to get rid of them in the early stage only.

Fleas are source of various dangerous communicable diseases like dengue, malaria etc. These diseases are so dangerous that it can take you to death. Our carpets can be used as their home by fleas. Fleas can easily hide in the thread of carpets. And it is not easy to clean our carpets from these fleas.

The best way to keep your fleas out of your carpet is prevention. If we do carpet cleaning on regular basis there is no way these flees can reside in their. We should make sure that we vacuum clean our carpets on regular basis. Usually fleas reside on dirty surfaces. So keep our house clean is the key to keep these harmful fleas out of your reach.

We may not be aware but our pets act as carrier of these fleas. Pets have a habit of playing in any area. They do not care about cleanliness of the area. Fleas can easily hide in the hairy skin of our pets and gain entry into house. So we should not allow pets into our carpet area of the house. Or otherwise we can flea comb our pets before letting them into our house.

The vacuum cleaner that we use for cleaning our carpets should have power suction. Whereas we can remove most kinds of fleas from carpet by vacuum cleaning but larvae sometimes may not be removed. For removing larvae we may need to shampoo our carpet area. A spray of Diatomaceous earth on the carpet kills the fleas hiding inside the carpet area.

Some carpet cleaners also help us to get rid of these fleas. We should use those cleaners which contain Borate in them. Borate powder has a potential of killing eggs, larvae and fleas. We should use Borate before vacuum cleaning. This is because of the reason that Borate will kill the unwanted fleas then we can collect them for throwing using Vacuum cleaner.

Killing and removing these fleas from carpet is an exercise which should be carried out after regular intervals. As even if one egg is left alive, it has a potential of producing thousands of fleas in a very short period.

We can also use insecticides like Mithoprene and Pyriproxyfen for cleaning our carpet from fleas. But we need to talk to pesticide consultant before applying any such pesticide as these chemicals can be very harmful to kids, pets and even a mature human being.

After vacuum cleaning the carpet, collect the dust in a container and seal it before throwing. Otherwise they may contaminate other places as well.

We may also sprinkle our carpet area with salt. Salt has the potential of killing fleas, eggs and even larvae.
