ZEOLITES SCIENTIFIC PROPERTIES:

The most fundamental consideration regarding the adsorption of chemical species and odors by Zeolite is molecular sieving. Species with a kinetic diameter which makes them too large to pass through a Zeolite pore are effectively “sieved.” This “sieve” effect can be utilized to produce sharp separations of molecules by size and shape; thus providing for an excellent medium for odor absorption.

The particular affinity a species has for an internal Zeolite cavity depends on electronic considerations. The strong electrostatic field within a Zeolite cavity results in very strong interaction with polar molecules such as water. Non-polar molecules are also strongly adsorbed due to the polarizing power of these electric fields. Thus, excellent separations can be achieved by Zeolite even when no steric hindrance occurs. Zeolites unique odor absorption properties can continue to function for many years.

Adsorption based on molecular sieving, electrostatic fields, and polarizability are always reversible in theory and usually reversible in practice. This allows the Zeolite to be reused many times, cycling between adsorption and desorption. This accounts for the considerable economic value of Zeolite in adsorptive applications and odor control.

Controlling pet and horse odors has never been easier and less expensive with a one time application of Zeolite Pet Crystals

Zeolite Pet Crystals may be obtained from many sources on line for $5.00 to $7.00 per lb, plus shipping and handling charges.

The recommended application rate for a new Synthetic grass installation or a gravel dog run is one pound per square foot. (200 sf would require 100 pounds of Zeolite) If applying Zeolite to an existing Synlawn or other brand of Fake Grass, the application rate is 1/2 lb per square foot.

Gorilla Stuffed Animal

If you are on the hunt for a gorilla stuffed animal, your search is over. Online stores have an exquisite 32 inch tall Silverback gorilla stuffed animal that is so lifelike, it’s a little eerie. They also have an equally lovely 18 inch tall hanging plush gorilla that is able to clasp his hands together making his arms into a loop. If you or you child are partial to wildlife plush, then either of these gorilla stuffed animals is for you.

Fossil records have shown that ape descendants originated 25 million years ago in Africa and then dispersed through Europe and Asia. During what is referred to as the Miocene Era (23 million years ago), 15 types of apes that lived in such places as Italy and Greece, have been identified. A group of wild gorillas was discovered 2,500 years ago by an expedition that was travelling from the Phoenician merchant city of Carthage to the western coats of Africa. In addition, an English Sailor in the 16th century, spoke of seeing man-like apes (which would be chimps and gorillas today) that came to the campsite in West Africa where he was being held captive.

In 1902, a German officer by the name of Captain Robert von Beringe, first discovered mountain gorillas at a time when only lowland gorillas were known to exist. The subspecies name of the mountain gorilla actually comes from his last name Gorilla beringei beringei.
In 1959, the first documented research of gorillas took place by George Schaller. His book, entitled The year of the Gorilla, was one of the first to dispel the various myths that surrounded these great apes. For instance, due to their intimidating appearance, strength, and displays of chest-beating, gorillas had been given a ferocious stereotype. Movies, in particular, have continued to perpetuate this false stereotype. Gorillas, in fact, are actually gentle by nature.

In 1963, Diane Fossey began her now very famous research, study and conservation of mountain gorillas. She went on to publish a book entitled Gorillas in the Mist in 1983 which was made into a movie in 1986. Because of her book and the subsequent film, gorilla conservation was finally given the worldwide attention it deserved.

That wildlife plush collection you so greatly admire, is waiting for a a gorilla stuffed animal to make its home with all the other soft toys. And, contrary to what you might have thought previously, that gorilla stuffed animal will only fit in with animals that have amiable dispositions. With that said, try and keep your lion and tiger plush separate!

Shark Stuffed Animal Facts

Shark stuffed animals might seem a little intimidating at first, especially those that have gaping mouths full of ‘sharp’ teeth. The truth is, shark stuffed animals are as cuddly as the next soft toy and much friendlier than they seem.

The lesser known angel shark (scientific name Squatina califronica) gets its name from its large pectoral fins which are shaped like wings. Their bodies are flat and they can grow up to five feet in length. Angel sharks are black, grey, or brown in color which helps aids them in blending perfectly with the sandy bottom of the ocean wear they hide so they can pounce on their prey mollusks, fish, and crustaceans. Like many sharks, the angel species are ovovivparous which means they produce eggs which hatch within the females body but don’t get any nourishment from it. Angel sharks can have as many as 13 pups in a litter.

In 2007, the Aquarium of the Bay in San Francisco, California, announced the birth of the first ever Pacific angel shark pup born in captivity. It weighed in at 4.4 ounces and 9.6 inches in length. The only aquarium in the United States that consistently has angel sharks in display is the Aquarium of the Bay. While there are only two adults in their collection, they also have sevengill sharks, smoothhound sharks, spiny dogfish, soupfin sharks, swell sharks, and leopard sharks. The Aquarium’s Executive Director, John Frawley says with so much attention focused on great white sharks, many people are unaware of the lesser known sharks that live in the San Francisco Bay and surrounding waters. Given their is so little known about angel sharks, the Aquarium is putting its focus on various field projects and research to gain a better understanding of what their life cycles are like as well as the way in which the species distributes itself. They have begun a shark tagging program which they hope will enable them to also understand how the Bay’s ecosystem and sharks fit together, in addition to finding out what they need in order for the species to blossom.

You could say that like the angel shark, very little is known about shark stuffed animals. After all, they’re not usually the first choice of soft toy taken off the shelf, like say, the teddy bear. If they’re never chosen, how can anyone learn anything about them? Unfortunately, unlike the teddy bear, shark stuffed animals don’t come across as very non-threatening, which is their first problem. With all those teeth and menacing eyes, it’s not exactly an endorsement for a best looking soft toy award. On the other hand, if it’s realism in your plush toys that you prefer, look no further than a shark stuffed animal.
